Create a Test Database

Create a Test Database:

  1. Use the Show Last Time Test Database was Created utility by going to Administration > System > Database > Show Last Time Test Database was Created.

  • A message displays the last time a test database was created using the production database.

  1. Use the Create Copy of Production Database To Test Database utility by going to Administration > System > Database > Create Copy of Production Database To Test Database.

  2. A task to copy the production database to the test database is scheduled, and it will be performed after business hours.

  • If users were having trouble logging into the test database, they should be able to log in using their current username and password tomorrow morning.


Need to see when the last time your production database was copied to the test database?

  • Use the Show Last Time Test Database was Created utility (Administration > System > Database > Create Copy of Production Database To Test Database) to see the last time that the production database was copied to the test database.
a. As a good rule of thumb, you perform this step before copying the production database to the test database

 

If you are using your test database as a sandbox for exploring the application, generally you have to update your test database when users are having trouble logging into it. For example, if you changed your password since the last time the test database had been updated you"ll have to log into the test database using your old password.

  • If you update the test database, you can use your current password to log into the test database.
