How to Access Evosus While Working from Home

Can I access Evosus while working from home?
You can! The good news is, it is very likely you already have the things you need to make this happen. We've outlined the steps you'll need to take with your IT professional on how to access not only Evosus but all contents on your office computer while you work from home.

Ok, so here’s the techy stuff that you’ll want to pass along to your IT professional:
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection from your home to the location with your servers will be required. For the last 10 years, pretty much ALL Business Class Firewalls (Cisco, Sonicwall, etc) include VPN capabilities built into their Firewall Hardware. This should just require your Network tech to configure the VPN Firewall.

Each Firewall has different configurations, but the steps are basically the same:

  1. Turn on VPN access
  2. Create a user account & grant permissions to establish a VPN to that account
  3. Load the VPN software onto the remote computer and point it to your store firewall
  4. Configure a computer at the store to allow Incoming Remote Desktop Connections (make sure this is a workstation that others won't be using)
  5. Create a Remote Desktop connection to the local IP address of the store workstation.

Once connected you will be able to run any application (like Evosus) loaded on the computer at the store & interact with it from your home computer.

Key Notes

  • Loading the Evosus client software onto the remote computer is not required. In fact, it will not run correctly if it is loaded onto a remote computer, even with a VPN connection.
  • The computer that you take over at the store will not be able to be used by anyone at the store while you are connected (they will bump you Off if they try)
  • Do not expect printers at your home to work while connected this way
  • An external static IP address may be needed at your store if it doesn't already have one

REMEMBER! Your network tech should be familiar with how to configure VPN access.

We hope this helps point you in the right direction to work with your IT professional on how to access Evosus and all contents on your office computer while at home.
