You can use this report to see the purchases during a timeframe with a profit margin (Administration > Reports > Inventory > Items > Item Purchase and Sales). Be sure to select all item classes on the Item Class tab.
How is the average profit calculated?
(Sold for Avg Price - Purchased for Avg Cost) * Amt Sold in Time Frame = Average Profit
